Rangers chief executive Martin Bain has thanked the supporters who have shown the "true spirit" of the financially-troubled club after Ibrox officials were "inundated" with offers of help.
Bain revealed "thousands" of Rangers fans had offered assistance after Walter Smith lifted the lid on the extent of the problems facing Rangers.
Bain said: "It has been a difficult period for fans both in regard to results and speculation about the future of the club. However, they have stepped up to the plate in their thousands to voice their support for Rangers."
Smith revealed Lloyds Banking Group were effectively overseeing the club's finances after placing a representative on the board.
The bank denied they were controlling the club while Rangers stressed there was no need to sell players in January despite debts of around £30million.
But worried fans have sought to help improve the club's plight as majority shareholder Sir David Murray seeks a buyer.
Bain said: "We have been inundated with emails, letters and phone calls and the overarching message from the fans is that the interests of Rangers must come first and foremost - a sentiment held dear by the board of directors, Walter Smith and myself.
"I cannot express strongly enough the club's gratitude for this show of support and it reflects the true spirit of Rangers.
"Numerous supporters have expressed a desire to help the club in one way or another. This is appreciated greatly by all of us at Rangers.
"One clear way for fans to assist the club at this stage is to help ensure that our team has the continued benefit of our full support. It means so much to the players in both domestic and European fixtures and it would benefit the overall welfare of the club."

Dignified?.. Bain?? If he had any dignity, he'd forego his massive salary to help get rangers out of the mess he's in! Better still - he'd resign! He's now being seen for what he is - A PARASITE! He's asking the fans to dig deep. No mention of any monies he's been trousering since he moved into Ibrox!!
Why cant ceptic's board be as dignified as bain. Rangers NEVER say a word out of place.
2 - Does U R A stand for ULSTER REPUBLICAN ARMY by any chance?
Pt8... Half-breed is a term used to describe anyone who is bi-racial. The term is widely used to describe people of mixed Native American (especially North American) and white European parentage. Métis is a French term for half-breed.
I dont fit this bill, as for religion, not part of my reasons I support Celtic.....
LOL!! I stated at point 6 that some of rangers' financial woes lie in the boardroom, and 3 idiots have thumbed me down for it! In other words, 3 bluenosed bigots think it's okay for Baldy Bain to bleed your club dry! I find that hilarious beyond belief!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
Nice one spud the fud, I see you are trying to talk again hahahahaha keep taking the pills.
GTF CHEESE but at least he's not a inbred fu.ckwit like u
No5 no brains, Halfbreed is a term used to describe anyone who is bi-racial. In your case, Mother a Prod and Father a Tim.
Ginger...by all accounts thats whats causing all the trouble...all new contracts have to be reduced and no one is willing to accept a pay cut. There more to all this Ginger and the Goverment news today re the banks will only make it worse.
3 - Well said, Ranger!! Lawwell is on about £110,000pa. I'm given to understand that Baldy Bain is on £475,000pa... When your club's on the ropes, cutbacks should be made AT THE TOP!! 'Nuff said!!
Pt2...Thanks...whats a halfbreed?
how bad can it get..smokescreen yet again..th end is near !
Bain, dispense with the solidarity manure; "overarching" does not include you and the other scheisters who have bled this great Club. The concern of the fans is not for you and the Minty regime and their ill-gotten gains.
We will stick behind the club, team and management but the sooner you and the other charlatans are gone, the better.
U R A complete clown Stuart, and a halfbreed.
