Leon Britton believes Swansea team-mate Cedric Van der Gun could prove to be one of the signings of the season.

Former Ajax forward Van der Gun joined the Swans on a free transfer in September and scored his first goal for the in-form Championship side in Saturday's win at Scunthorpe.

The 30-year-old Dutchman was not match fit when he arrived at the Liberty Stadium but midfielder Britton has been impressed by his performances in recent weeks.

Britton told Press Association Sport: "Cedric is a very good player. When he first arrived he wasn't match fit as he's not been training but he's getting there now.

"What a player to get on a free, he's good on the ball and obviously got his goal at the weekend, But he has alot more to his game than that.

"He works very hard and he is a great player to have in the team."
