County eye Juve friendly

Notts County hope to persuade Italian giants Juventus to play a friendly at Meadow Lane next year.

Magpies director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson plans to fly to Turin to invite the Serie A side to take part in the centenary celebrations for the League Two club's ground.

Fans learned of the move at a question-and-answer session with Eriksson and executive chairman Peter Trembling held at Meadow Lane on Monday evening.

The history between the two sides goes back 106 years to when Juventus changed their kit to copy the black and white stripes of Notts.

Eriksson is well respected in Italian football. He never managed Juventus but he did coach Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lazio, winning the Coppa Italia four times and the Serie A title once.
