Cardiff have been dealt a blow with the news that Stephen McPhail is set to be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a torn thigh muscle.

The influential midfielder suffered the injury in the first half of Sunday`s 1-1 home draw against Nottingham Forest and now faces a lengthy lay-off.

"It`s bad news about Stevie and he`s a big loss because he`d won the fans over again," Bluebirds manager Dave Jones told the club`s official website.

"He was already doubtful for the match at Swansea on Saturday but a scan has confirmed our worst fears."
