Llambias - We're adding to St James' Park

Derek Llambias has moved to allay anger among Newcastle fans following the announcement by owner Mike Ashley to sell naming rights to St James' Park.

Ashley announced his plans last week after also confirming he would not be selling the Coca-Cola Championship club but it has met with universal opposition.

However, the Newcastle managing director has attempted to alleviate the anger by insisting the name of St James' Park would not be sacrificed.

Llambias told Sky Sports News: "We are just looking to explore and maximise all our revenues. We've got a great opportunity at the moment because our sponsorships are coming to an end. So we have a kit sponsor, we have shirt sponsors and then we have stadium right sponsors.

"So our intention is to put a package together that would include for instance stadium rights with a jumbo screen included in that sponsorship which is great for the fans as well.

"Our intention is to have - for instance sportsdirect.com@ St James' Park. We were never going to lose St James' Park, it was always going to be @ St James' Park."

Rıght I have been away from my town army for­ almost a yr but I have been readıng most of­ the comments, and yes maybe the ownener needs to go­ back to London, but also the players need to pull­ theır own weıght whıch they­ look lıke they are, but I am pleased they got­ rıd of Mıchael Owen he was not­ rıght for the town. I had only been to a­ couple of matches but I have always supported the town­ and always wıll. I wıll be back­ ın the UK next wk so when I have some spare­ money I wıll take my new partner from Turkey­ to see the best north east team to play. Plus also­ hıs nephew wants to play for them I just hope­ that Newcastle can send some1 to see hım play­ he ıs good.

Here's a good idea - when you go to the match­ on Saturday, why don't you waste your hard earned­ money on beer, pop, burgers and pies for yourself and­ the kids, just to let Ashley know how much you support­ the way he's killing our football club.
