Mackay backs side to respond

Watford boss Malky Mackay is confident his side can bounce back from their weekend mauling when they meet Preston on Saturday.

The Hornets' six-game unbeaten run on the road came shuddering to a halt as West Brom ran out comfortable 5-0 winners at The Hawthorns.

But Mackay has backed his young side to get that result out of their system when North End arrive at Vicarage Road next time out.

"They have been on a great run and have been playing well and they are disappointed with their performances but it is something they will learn from," said Mackay.

"Some of them are playing their first 10 league games in Championship football and they have been doing great so far.

"We will look at it in the week and work hard in the week to get back to being competitive again because that is all I ask of them, to be competitive and let their football come out."
