Macken hails competition

Barnsley striker Jon Macken believes the players brought in by manager Mark Robins have had a positive effect on the rest of the squad.

Robins has boosted his firepower at Oakwell by drafting in Andy Gray from Charlton, while midfielders Emil Hallfredsson and Nathan Doyle and defenders Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson have arrived on loan.

Macken said: "Whoever plays has got to go out there and perform well otherwise you'll find yourself on the bench or out of the team.

"So you looking always over your shoulder, we've got that bit of competition for places, which is good."

  1. Simon Davey brought in Andy Gray and Emil Hallfredsson and we're still one point worse off than what we were at this time last year. I'm not saying Davey should have stayed but there's nothing to get too excited about yet.
