Sheffield United skipper Chris Morgan will miss out on a potentially explosive encounter with Barnsley striker Iain Hume in next week's derby at Oakwell through suspension.
Morgan, who spent six years at hometown club Barnsley until a free transfer to Sheffield United in 2003, received his fifth booking of the season in Monday night's 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle and will sit out a one-game ban.
The two players clashed at Oakwell back in November 2008 when Morgan's elbow left Hume with a fractured skull and internal bleeding, which forced the Canada international to miss the second half of last season.
Hume was stretchered off and later spent 48 hours in the high dependency unit at Salford Royal Hospital following emergency surgery. He was readmitted to hospital a fortnight later due to complications.
Morgan, who has always maintained his innocence, claimed his elbow accidentally caught Hume on the side of his head. He received only a booking from referee Andy D'Urso and the Football Association later decided to take no further action.
Hume, who made his comeback for Barnsley in August, is still considering legal action against Morgan and said last month if he would shake hands: "I really don't know. It's one of those isn't it? The professional thing would be to say yes. I probably would - but it would be the quickest handshake in the world."

mpierce82 - Well said, couldn't agree more!
The best bet of this season was that Morgan would pick up that 5th booking on Monday to make sure he didn't have to play at Barnsley - he's a thug, a big bullying, cowardly thug at that!!! He should have been locked up for GBH - video evidence clearly shows him looking round to see where Iain Hume was before delivering the blow (not the first he'd attempted either!).
The fact that video evidence could be used to ban Eduardo for diving (then overturned) etc., but not for a case like this is an absolute disgrace.
yes he did mean to do it hes an hooligan and nothing but he should have been banned but no the governing body (fa) are set in there stupid retarded ways were all supposedly human now why when theres video evidence to prove it can they not do something about it?
he was the same against newcastle leading with his arm kicking peoples legs from under there feet and the same bad vile mouthing he always does yes hes a blade through and through but why do the fans have to stick up for him even when they blatanly know hes a thug send him to jail then see if that calms him down english football dont need people like him involved....... oh and by the way mr MCCABE if u read this please dont sue me im entitled to my opinion im sure watching replays millions of other fans would share the same opinion
i dont think morgan meant to injure hume on purpose, look how many fouls are commited this way . addmitted other players havent been taken to hospital, i think it was one of those things that happened . lets have a really good game on monday maybe one to surpass the sheffield derby & last nights match @ the lane . that was a really good game , united played very well , only the result spoilt it. if barnsley beat united , i hope they dont , it will be time for blackwell to go as i have said many a time.let speedy take over , we might get somewhere then. the only place we will get with blacky , is the first division.
