New role for Amott

Don Amott has taken on a new role as honorary vice president at Derby.

Amott, who is chairman of Derbyshire County Cricket Club, had been a non-executive director following the takeover of the club by American company General Sports & Entertainment in January 2008.

Before then he was a director and part of a group of local businessmen, led by former chairman Peter Gadsby, who rescued Derby from administration in April 2006.

He told the Derby Telegraph: "A couple of months ago I had a chat with (former chairman of football) Adam Pearson and Tom Glick about my role.

"Given the health of myself and my wife, I was not comfortable with the non-executive director role. I did not feel I was doing anything for the club.

"They came back to me and asked if I would accept the role as honorary vice-president, which I was delighted with and proud to do."
