Manchester City boss Mark Hughes hopes to have big-name duo Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor back for his club's Barclays Premier League match against Burnley.
Although the Blues have edged into the top four, a run of four consecutive draws has stopped them making a concerted charge towards the top of the table.
"Adebayor and Toure haven't trained a great deal in the last two or three weeks, so they need a good week of training - and I hope they will be an option next weekend," said Hughes.
Hughes is desperate for a return to winning ways to stop his side falling further adrift of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal - and end up merely scrapping for fourth spot along with Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Having Toure and Adebayor back at Eastlands on Saturday would be a major boost.
Meanwhile, City have been dealt a blow by confirmation that promising midfielder David Ball is out for six weeks with a broken metatarsal.
Ball was on the bench for September's astonishing Manchester derby at Old Trafford, but his setback means he will miss the trip to Abu Dhabi next week to face the United Arab Emirates.

i am willing to take the other side of the "hughes is desparate" argument...this year's city has taken points away from away matches where last year they'd have lost. they've given up few goals. they've scrapped. i find that promising! despite not having won in four prem games, they are in 4th!! with a game in hand. not too shabby in my book.
Keep DREAMING, U can ask studs fans, How long dey have being DREAMING to break into the Big Boyz league. T.Hotspud will always be a Mid-Table Team. Gunners4life.
Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal will always be ahead of man city no their spending spree period!!!
Man city hahaah haahaa cant stop laughing
man city plus mark hinge oops sorry mark hughes can only try but they can never catch up with Arsenal. The Gunners are just tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good for them.Thank GOD Adebayor is not in this current Arsenal squad to ruin things.cos the Gunners are going for Glory.so the Abu dhabi side should scrap for tenth place or better still bottom of the table for all i care.UP GUNNERS.
