Bolton boss Gary Megson has denied that the club are in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of Nicolas Anelka.
Anelka has been linked with a move away from the Reebok almost since his arrival at the club last season and the speculation has intensified following the club's slip into a relegation scrap.
And l'Equipe claimed that the former Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG and Fenerbahce striker was set to move to Stamford Bridge.
But Megson said: "In terms of Chelsea making contact I am not aware of that or any other club making contact. I am aware of the speculation and have seen the article. But Nic did say if nothing happens he is happy at Bolton.
"It is something and nothing. We will just keep going and try to deal with the speculation that surrounds him."
Despite the constant talk, Anelka has remained in fine form for the Trotters, something which has not gone unnoticed by their new boss.
"I was really pleased with Nic," Megson continued of his performance in the 1-0 win over Derby. "He has not scored but he worked really hard for us.
"With five minutes to go he was chasing a ball that he lost himself."
