The future of Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is under threat again after his side were beaten 3-0 at home by Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round.
City's Abu Dhabi-based backers have resolutely stuck by their manager throughout this season's struggles, but their faith will be further tested after Hughes's side capitulated against Forest.
The former European champions' own dismal form this term has seen Billy Davies agree to take over as boss on Monday; he watched as temporary boss John Pemberton masterminded the win thanks to goals from Nathan Tyson, Robert Earnshaw and Joe Garner.
Garner's second-half strike was the cue for City supporters to stream out of the stadium, hurling abuse at Hughes as they went.
Forest might have been ahead before the breakthrough eventually came late in the first half, but headers from Lewis McGugan, Matt Thornhill and Ian Breckin all flew narrowly wide.
After a sluggish start City also had chances, with Paul Smith making superb saves to deny Felipe Caicedo and Daniel Sturridge, paired together in attack while Robinho was rested.
The hosts' cause was not helped by the loss of Shaun Wright-Phillips to a hamstring injury after just 18 minutes.
With the clock ticking down towards half-time a long ball was lofted into the City box, where Micah Richards headed away; Tyson met it with a dipping first-time volley that gave Joe Hart no chance.
The hosts were still clearing their heads when Forest doubled their lead.
Pablo Zabaleta was robbed easily by Chris Cohen close to the touchline, setting the Forest man haring into the box where he found Thornhill with a precise cross.
The midfielder's shot was hopelessly off target, but Earnshaw coolly steered it into the corner.
In the second half Caicedo twice forced Smith into fine saves, but without Wright-Phillips, there was no spark from the hosts.
Garner completed the rout 15 minutes from time, scoring low past Hart after Dietmar Hamann had thrown him the ball from the touchline.

I remember going past the Forrest ground during European Cup games at the height of their success and the entire stadium being empty :-)
Still can't stop laughing at Man City & the Gallagher brothers though :-)
Manchester home to the two most expensive komedy teams in the world :-)
C'mmon you Hammers :-)
I hope Hughes will stay at Man City. Give him a chance. After all how long did it take for SAF to mould ManU into what it is now. Fans were also crying for his head then and only the FA Cup win saved him. But that is now history. Managers must not take all the blame. Players are out there to prove that they are worth every penny paid to them week in week out. If you get 100k per week then you must prove you are worth it. Otherwise they should either demand for a lower pay or leave the club. The mid-season transfer window must also be unsettling for the current players. But then city's problem began even before the season starts when they failed to win games in the second half of last season.
Further proof that great players never make good managers in the long term.Good result for Forest but next week Man City will be full again(at least at kick-off).I remember travelling to Forest at the height of thier European glory and half the home end was empty for an FA cup replay.
HAHAHAHAHA - LETS ALL LAUGH AT CITY, LETS ALL LAUGH AT CITY,
HAHAHAHAHAHAH11
how can Man City expect to get world class players when they cant even beat notts forrest, i bet Robinho wishes he stayed at Real Madrid, but they real reason you got hims is to show off to the Red side of Manchester, if Man City keep this up he wont be there long and they wont be in the Prem, i mean come on you cant be happy to have an ex Man United player being your manager. Get Real Man City. BCFC for life
Chris Dunk hi check your history @#$% Forest are a proper big club not a bunch of twats like all manky mank clubs the sleeping giant woke up today but check the crowd history always lots of fans thick and thin although city have always had good support not really deserved because theyve always had thin

Oh dear back to mincing about with the 'legendary' BBC (Blades Business Club) in the Championship for City fans next year me thinks :-) Haha ! :-)
Real city fans will remember Halifax & Shrewsbury from days gone by So all you so called new boys F..K off and support someone else stop booing the Blues. As for Forest
they deserved it ,but will that so called support still be with them in Feb or March.
City till I die
the magic of the cup, love it, good on forest
This result for Forest proves the magic of the F.A cup competition.
I have been a City fan for 197 years and have to say, except for a 3.5 second spell in the 1st half, this was the worst performance I have seen out of my one remaining good eye. Me-Dad left the ground before the final whistle which ee-asn't done since 1892. Me-Grandad also tried to leave but Hughsie saw him jinkin right 'n left with his walking frame and promptly signed him! Don't s'pose he'll be home fer supper. On a positive note, it weren't rainin', or were it?
What a bunch of whinging pathetic t!!ts you are.
Apologies sensible people!!
City beaten Forest win.
FOOTBALL!!!!!!!
Get a life.

Mark has failed must have seen this two months ago. Given the current financial position of Man City, the world's richest football club, Mark should not have been contemplating on Man City's survival in the Premiership, and the FA Cup should have been his first major. Out of FA, and battling to be out of the bottom three in League for a club with such resources at its disposal should be considered as mismanagement. And Mark Hughes being the manager should get the boot
MON CATAY UR @#$% A CONNAY WAT TAY SEA THAM GAT RALAGATAD
o'mr hughes you are doing utd a great job, old traditions never die you are so full of your self i know you won't be with us for long thank god
Next round chelsea if they beat southend
tell someone who gives a s**t.....
I think its unecessary for anyone to put others down for spelling errors on here when the main topic of debate is football. Many people suffer from dyslexia which doesn't mean they are stupid and there's more to life ie: showing good manners and respect for others...... There are still lots positives for Manchester City you've just bought an international left back, got one of the top goalscorers in the premiership and have got a good stadium, large fan base and excellent funds that all other clubs could do with, not to mention the transfer window is now open and also the premiership is pretty close and after a few back to back wins things can certainly change, not to mention your still in europe. Everyone, can have a bad run and the best way is to take it on the chin, dust yourselfs off and get behind your team. I think things will change for City and they will make progress ie:acheive long term goals instead of short term ones. It may take time but you do still have alot to play for and so many positives still going for you and the seasons not over yet! To win you have to keep on going and sometimes word hard through alot of pain to gain sucess.
