Brian Howard admitted he and team-mate Dennis Souza were involved in a heated exchange of words during the weekend defeat at Coventry. The Tykes were humbled 4-0 at the Ricoh Arena and frustrated skipper Howard revealed passions were running high in an "embarrassing" team performance.
Howard told the club's official website; "There were words said between Dennis Souza and myself in the second half.
"But that only shows how much we want to do well and win. Emotions run high in football and that boiled over a little."
Barnsley went down 4-1 at Coventry in March last year and Howard added: "We have a stronger side than last season, so to go there and lose like that was embarrassing."
