Leon Best has ended speculation about his Coventry future by telling the Sky Blues 'I am here to stay' following his weekend brace. The 21-year-old made the comments after silencing his critics with two goals on his return to the side in the 4-0 demolition of Barnsley at the weekend.
Best handed in a transfer request last month after discovering that his home-town club Nottingham Forest had expressed an interest in signing him but Coventry rejected two bids from the League One side and the transfer deadline passed with Best still at the Ricoh Arena.
He told the club's official website: "I have gone from being at the bottom to being at the top. The Forest thing is definitely put to bed now. I was flattered by the interest from my hometown club, who I have supported from my young days. There were a lot of things behind it but now I am here, and here to stay.
"I never wanted to leave for leaving's sake. There were other clubs interested but I didn't even look at them. I never fell out with anyone and it was a very stressful thing to go through.
"It was just a matter of my hometown club and my family being there and it was so hard to make the decision. But I have got my head on the right track now and I know what I am doing with myself."
