Luton's administrator Brendan Guilfoyle says the club's sale is in the process of being finalised but admits it will still take "some weeks".The preferred bidder, LTFC2020, has made money available to the club to ensure that players received their wages, and ease worries that any more players would be forced to leave.
Guilfoyle told the club's official website: "This further injection of cash meant I was not in a position where I had to sell any players. Earlier in the transfer window before a preferred bidder was announced, I had to ensure the future of the club to the end of the season and hence the need to sell two players.
"However, since LTFC2020 became preferred bidders they have made significant monies available to me so the pressure was off."
On the status of the sale of the Hatters, Guilfoyle said: "Everything is progressing very well and ahead of schedule. However, we must follow the correct legal process with creditors and the Football League so it will still be some weeks before LTFC2020 take ownership of the club.
"Now that January is over I can, together with LTFC2020, concentrate on finalising the sale of the club. This allows the manager, players and fans to forget speculation and concentrate on moving up the league table."
