Striker Ross McCormack, a transfer target for Middlesbrough, Hearts and Wigan, insists he had no intention of leaving Motherwell in January.McCormack's contract expires in the summer, and 'Well manager Mark McGhee is resigned to losing the 21-year-old - who has struck nine goals so far this season.

McCormack is adamant that he made the correct decision in staying with Motherwell for the remainder of the campaign, and is focused on working hard for boss McGhee.

"I'd been saying for months that, no matter what happened during the transfer window, I was going to be here until the end of the season because I want to remain here," he said in the Daily Record.

"Clubs may have agreed fees but I would still have stayed because I wanted to be here to help Motherwell to try and finish third in the SPL and do well in the Scottish Cup.

"It's brilliant working with the manager and the mood in the dressing room is fantastic."
