Loanee Charlie Mulgrew has revealed his delight at linking up with Southend and claims his new side can gain promotion to the Championship.The 21-year-old Wolves left-back made a convincing start to life with the Shrimpers after featuring in the club's 2-2 draw at Leyton Orient and now believes they can mount a serious assault on the top six.

"I'm really pleased to have come in to Southend," he said.

"It all happened quite late on transfer deadline day but I will work really hard and there are a confident set of lads here.

"From what I've seen so far we look a good side as well and promotion is a realistic target. I want to play a part in that and help Southend go back up again."
