Bury Turn To Knill

Mon 04 Feb, 03:10 PM

Bury have appointed former player Alan Knill as their new manager.

Knill, who leaves his post as assistant manager at Chesterfield, was a regular in the Bury defence from 1989 to 1993, making 159 appearances and scoring 10 goals.

He replaces Chris Brass, who was put in temporary charge at Gigg Lane following the dismissal of Chris Casper last month.

Knill's last managerial job was with Rotherham but he was sacked in March 2007 after a 14-game winless run.
