Bolton midfielder Kevin Nolan has been left "hurt and upset" after Fabio Capello chose not to include him in his first England squad.
Last week, Capello selected a provisional 30-man squad for the friendly against Switzerland at Wembley on Wednesday, with the squad later trimmed to 23.
There was no place for Nolan, who has yet to earn himself a senior cap for England, and the midfielder admits he was disappointed at the snub.
"There have been a lot of squads that have passed me by since I have been at Bolton," the 25-year-old said in the Daily Mail.
"I'm not surprised but I am a bit hurt and upset. I thought with a new England manager coming in, I might have a shout but I refuse to let it get me down.
"I'll keep on doing what I do, scoring goals and working hard and if I keep that up, maybe my chance will come.
"I know we have a lot of good players available - Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole. They are world class. It would take a brave man to leave them out."
