Switzerland left-back Ludovic Magnin has signed a new two-year contract with Stuttgart.

Magnin, who helped the club to the Bundesliga title last season, was out of contract in the summer and linked with a move away from the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion.

"All in all I feel fine at Stuttgart and I am sure I will achieve goals in future years with the club," Magnin, 28, said.

"I had other options but everything pointed to my staying with Stuttgart."

Magnin joined from Werder Bremen in 2005. This season Stuttgart have struggled to maintain their form and current sit ninth in the table as the season recommences after a long winter break.

"I hope we can get back on track and become as successful as last season," he added.

Stuttgart sporting director Horst Heldt expressed his joy that the player had committed his future.

"We are happy Ludo is staying," he said. "He has a high standing in the side."

Stuttgart were soundly beaten by Schalke - the team they pipped to the title last season - by a margin of 4-1 at the weekend.
