Milan (to face Arsenal on Wednesday February 20th)

Fiorentina 0-1 Milan

Milan kept their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive with a 1-0 win over high-flying Fiorentina in Florence.

Brazilian teenager Alexandre Pato continued to justify the hype around him by scoring his fourht goal in five league games for the European champions by lifting the ball of Fiore keeper Frey in the closing stages. The 19-year-old was stretchered off soon after with a sprain to his left ankle, an injury manager Carlo Ancelotti describes as "serious".

Internazionale (to face Liverpool on Tuesday 19th)

Internazionale 1-0 Empoli

A dubious penalty gave Inter a 1-0 win over Empoli and moved them eight points clear of second-placed Roma at the top of Serie A.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped up to slot home the 34th minute spot-kick after Ighli Vannucchi fouled Dejan Stankovic. Patrick Vieira was sent off just five minutes later, but the Nerazzurri held on to take all three points and continue their fantastic run of form.

Barcelona (to face Celtic on 20th)

Barcelona 1-0 Osasuna

Barcelona closed the gap at the top of the table to just six points following Real Madrid's shock 2-0 defeat at Almeria.

As the match at the Nou Camp against Osasuna looked to be heading for a stale goalless draw in the driving rain, playmaker Xavi struck in a half-volley in the 87th minute to give the Catalan side a valuable three points.

Lyon (to face Manchester United on 20th)

Saint-Etienne 1-1 Lyon

The champions' hopes of winning the double are still on after they reached the last 16 of the Coupe de France.

They made hard work of overcoming fourth division Croix-de-Savoie, however, and it took a free kick from Brazil striker Fred in the last ten minutes to give them the 1-0 win. They will meet holders Sochaux in the next round.

Olympiacos (to face Chelsea on 19th)

Kalamarias 1-0 Olympiacos

Olympiacos dropped one place to third in the Super League, as Panathinaikos were the only side out of the top three to win at the weekend.

A goal from Georgios Barkoglou in the 90th minute for struggling side Kalamarias was enough to send Olympiacos home with nothing and see Panathinaikos move two points ahead of them at the top.
