It's been revealed that Barnsley goal-keeper Heinz Muller's knee injury could keep him out of action for up to nine months.
The German injured himself in the 1-0 win over Colchester last week.
Initial reports suggested knee ligament damage would keep Muller out for six months, but scans have revealed he could be out for even longer.
Barnsley physio Richard Kay told the club website: "It looks as though Heinz has done some very serious damage to his anterior cruciate ligament. There is also some damage to his lateral meniscus."
"The MRI scan was a little cloudy because of all the blood in the area so we are unsure as to whether he has ruptured his cruciate or not."
"Whether it is a total rupture or a partial tear will determine what the surgeon does this week and could potentially affect how long he is out for."
"Heinz will have an operation in Germany on Thursday and it is looking as though he will be out for between six and nine months."
Speaking shortly after the Colchester game, Muller had said: "It is typical: the same thing happened when I was on my way up in Germany, but this is my worst injury ever and came at the most terrible time."
