Red cards ruin Robins' day

Bristol City manager Derek McInnes felt the dismissal of winger Yannick Bolassie was "harsh" as his nine men went down 3-0 at home to managerless Leeds.

McInnes' side were already down to 10 men following defender James Wilson's straight red card in the 44th minutefor a professional foul on Leeds striker Ross McCormack when Bolassie was handed his second yellow card in three minutes early in the second half for two fouls on Leeds debutant Adam Smith.

Goals from Robert Snodgrass, Ross McCormack and Lucciano Becchio made it a day to remember for Leeds caretaker-manager Neil Redfearn.

McInnes said: "I thought the referee got one sending off right and the other wrong. Wilson didn't get a touch on the ball so he had to go, but the red card for Bolasie was very harsh.

"The Leeds player made the most of the challenge for his first booking and there was no intent to bring his opponent down when the second yellow card was issued.

"The decisions affected the game, but we can't blame the result on them. We were naive in certain situations and need to learn the lessons from that."
