Toby Flood came through half an hour of action from the bench in a boost to the England management, as the home fly-half returned from a knee injury with no ill-effects.

Thomas Waldrom and George Skivington touched down for Leicester, with Jeremy Staunton kicking the rest of their points.

Jimmy Gopperth contributed eight points for the Falcons, while Jamie Helleur scored their only try of the game.
