FA admit ref got Griffin's red wrong

Tue 04 Mar, 03:00 PM

Stoke defender Andy Griffin has had his dismissal during Sunday's 3-0 defeat by QPR rescinded by the Football Association.Referee Andy D'Urso showed Griffin a straight red card for a lunge on Hogan Ephraim during the first half at Loftus Road, but television replays showed he took the ball cleanly and made no contact with the Rangers winger.

D'Urso agreed to look again at the video evidence and the FA have now upheld City's appeal against the decision.

Griffin's three-match suspension will therefore not stand, meaning he will be available for Stoke's Championship game at home to Burnley on Saturday and subsequent trips to Norwich and Watford.
