Juve coach gets the dreaded VOC

Tue 04 Mar, 11:15 AM

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has given coach Claudio Ranieri a vote of confidence despite his team's recent drop in form.Sunday's 3-2 loss to Fiorentina was Juve's second defeat in three games and saw their advantage over fourth-placed Fiorentina cut to just one point with 12 matches remaining.

"You cannot forget the great work done up to now just because you have lost a game," said Cobolli Gigli. "Juve will make the Champions League and Ranieri was, is, and will be a great coach."

Failure to qualify for next season's Champions League would be unacceptable for the Bianconeri supporters, who have questioned Ranieri's tactics of late.

And the Bianconero supremo admits his team could have done better, especially considering that, unlike Internazionale, Roma, AC Milan and Fiorentina, they are not competing in Europe this campaign.

But he believes his side will soon get their Champions League push back on track.

"We have given a lot," Cobolli Gigli added. "But not as much as we could have. In any case there are still 12 games left to play and we can still give a lot."
