Potters dash to get loan star Nash

Tue 04 Mar, 01:00 PM

Stoke have completed the loan signing of Wigan goalkeeper Carlo Nash on a three-month loan deal, subject to FA and Football League clearance. The 34-year-old has joined the Britannia Stadium club until the end of the season in an attempt to boost their Championship promotion push, following Marton Fulop's return to parent club Sunderland last week.

Nash will be eligible to take part in the play-offs, including the Wembley final, if required.

Potters boss Tony Pulis told the club's official website: "Carlo is a very, very good goalkeeper and he will play a part in the rest of the season.

"We were disappointed to lose Marton, but I am delighted to have managed to bring in another top class goalkeeper."

Wigan counterpart Steve Bruce said: "Nashy is a good goalkeeper and a terrific professional, and we are in a very fortunate position to have three Premiership-standard goalkeepers at the club.

"At the moment, Carlo is the one who has been missing out and when Stoke enquired for him, I felt it was in Carlo's best interests to get some much-needed action."
