Walsall defender Rhys Weston pledged his future to the club by signing a new deal and vowed to help the Saddlers return to the Championship. The 27-year-old former Cardiff, Viking FK and Port Vale man, signed a two-year extension to his contract to keep him at the Banks's Stadium until 2010.
Weston, who arrived last summer on an initial one-year deal, told the club's official website: "The Championship is a fantastic league now.
"It's got stronger and stronger over the years and that's where we are all aspiring to be.
"We have a great dressing room, a great spirit and we have every chance of being there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
"It's a cliche but we just have to take one game at a time and keep ourselves in the pack."
