Wide receiver and four-times All-Pro Randy Moss was re-signed by the New England Patriots, ending speculation about his possible departure.

Although terms were not disclosed by the Patriots, local media estimate the deal to be over three years and worth $27 million.

The 31-year-old Moss, in partnership with quarterback Tom Brady, helped the Patriots pile up offensive records and coast through the regular 2007-08 season unbeaten until their 17-14 Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants last month.

"What Randy did for our team last year was outstanding," Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said.

"He is one of our most consistent, competitive and team-oriented players and it is undoubtedly a relationship we are excited to continue."

The record-setting Moss, a veteran of 10 NFL seasons, moved to New England from the Oakland Raiders last April in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2007 draft.

His debut campaign with the Patriots was electric as he caught 98 passes for 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns, an NFL record for a single season.

He caught a franchise-record four touchdown passes in a game against Buffalo.

"I want to take time out to thank all of the fans for their support and for wishing me well in my return to New England," Moss said.

"I'm ready to get back. We have some unfinished business to take care of."

Moss, a first-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 1998, has played in 154 games with 148 starts and caught 774 passes for 12,193 yards and 124 touchdowns.

His 124 career receiving touchdowns rank fourth on the NFL all-time list and his 12,193 receiving yards put him 14th.
