Dons delight, Stanley edge Daggers

Fri 04 Apr, 11:00 PM

MK Dons moved a step nearer to automatic promotion from League Two after a 2-1 win at Lincoln on Friday while Accrington beat Dagenham 1-0.The Dons took a third minute lead when Carl Regan shot home after an effort from Lloyd Dyer was blocked.

But the Dons then lost centre-back Sean O'Hanlon midway through the first half after he suffered a facial injury.

The Dons looked in little danger and continued to control the game despite losing midfielder Colin Cameron who limped off after a heavy challenge from Gary Croft.

The game looked all over when substitute Jemal Johnson smashed home a long-range shot in the 55th minute.

But Lincoln fought their way back into the game and pulled a goal back on the hour. Lee Beevers was unlucky with a header but Ben Wright forced the rebound into the net for his 13th goal of the season.

Phil Edwards scored his first goal of the season to virtually guarantee Accrington's League Two safety with their victory over Dagenham.

The defender headed home two minutes after the interval, getting on the end of an Ian Craney corner.

Stanley forced the early pace with Paul Mullin their main threat in a first half which lacked goalmouth action.

Daggers striker Paul Benson did force a save out of Kenny Arthur but it was easy for the Stanley keeper.

Edwards headed home just after the break but the visitors then upped the pace with the introduction of another striker Jon Nurse.

Shane Huke had a shot cleared off the line while Benson headed over in a good position before Accrington's Leam Richardson was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 90th minute but the hosts held on for a rare home win.
