Oakwell legend Eric Winstanley has backed captain Brian Howard to fire Barnsley into the FA Cup final.The midfielder scored a dramatic winner in the Tykes' fifth round victory at Liverpool, and Winstanley believes he can conjure up another match-winning performance for the struggling Championship side against Cardiff in their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

"You always feel that Brian will get a goal for you or create something from nothing," he told the club's official website.

"When you have a player and a captain like Brian you always feel that he will settle down the team and get them going about thing in the right way.

The former Tykes player and manger added: "I do not want to take anything from the rest of the team, who have been phenomenal in the cup this season, and if they all do their jobs well I am sure that will free Brian up to provide that bit of magic."
