Pat Baldwin and Clive Platt have added to Colchester's injury problems ahead of the derby battle with Ipswich at Layer Road on Saturday. The rock-bottom Us, who could be relegated this weekend, lost centre-half Baldwin to a dislocated shoulder against West Brom which could sideline him for the rest of the season.
Striker Platt suffered a back problem at the Hawthorns and is touch and go, with Scott Vernon standing by to partner top-scorer Kevin Lisbie.
But winger Medy Elito (calf), who was also injured in the dramatic 4-3 defeat, trained on Thursday and should be fit.
Teddy Sheringham is training again following his foot problem but Saturday's game will come too soon while Matt Heath (calf), Kevin Watson (calf), Mark Yeates and Aidan Davison (both shoulder) are long-term crocks.
