Frenchman Gregory Bauge could have the chance to compete for Olympic medals in two track cycling events in Beijing after being handed a ticket for the men's keirin at the Olympic Games.
Bauge was among the squad announced by French national director Patrick Cluzaud, although his proposals have yet to be ratified by national selectors in May.
Before then Bauge, a specialist in the sprint, has been handed the second place allocated to France alongside Arnaud Tournant, after two of his teammates failed to impress in recent competition.
Bauge, who won gold in the team sprint ahead of Britain at last week's world championships in Manchester, did not contend the keirin tournament in which Kevin Sireau and Mickael Bourgain failed to get past the first round.
The Paris-based rider, whose parents hail from Guadeloupe in the Caribbean, is a three-time world champion in the team sprint and won silver from the individual event at last year's worlds.
Bauge earned his Olympic keirn place because he is the top-ranked Frenchman in the event at the end of the World Cup season.
