Boss bemoans sloppy stalemate

Sun 04 May, 01:30 PM

Notts County boss Ian McParland was angry that his side had let slip the chance of doing the double over Chesterfield following their 1-1 draw.Spencer Weir-Daley put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half time but Jack Lester hit back to ensure the Magpies did not take all six points from their North Derbyshire neighbours this season.

He said: "It would have been nice to have done that and that's what I said to the players at half-time.

"I wasn't happy with our performance in the first half. I thought we were off the pace but we were dominating the game in the second half.

"But as long as you are playing against strikers like Jack Lester and Jamie Ward you have to be on your toes and I thought we gave away a bad goal.

"I thought we were on top at that time. They were giving sloppy balls away like we did in the first half and the crowd was getting restless, but then we conceded a goal out of nothing."
