Davies sets sights on next season

Sun 04 May, 01:15 PM

Simon Davies claimed he is looking forward to next season after Chester's 0-0 draw with Macclesfield despite undergoing "a tough three months".With both sides having ensured their league status for another season, there was little at stake other than bragging rights for the two local rivals who seemed to be happy to go through the motions.

Davies said: "We've ended the season with three goalless draws, but if you take the positives from that, we've had three clean sheets, which has been enough to see us up.

"It was a lethargic display, but the lads gave everything on Tuesday and I think that all the frustration was finally released, which made for a lacklustre display.

"It has been a tough three months for me since I've been in charge. We will all have a break, but I can't wait for next season to start."
