Northampton boss Stuart Gray admitted he is looking ahead to next campaign after his side triumphed 2-1 over Tranmere in the final-day fixture. The Cobblers finished on a high as goals from strike duo Adebayo Akinfenwa and Poul Hubertz meant Chris Greenacre's spectacular overhead kick leveller for Rovers counted for little, and manager Gray hailed his players' efforts.
"It was nice to finish at home with a victory and all credit to the players," said Gray.
"I was disappointed to go in level at half-time because I thought we did enough to be in front.
"It's pleasing to finish ninth and it makes us a more attractive team for possible new players.
"But I don't want us to just be a League One team, people will expect us to be challenging for the play-offs next season and we'll be ready for it."
