McCall hails ambassador Wetherall

Stuart McCall hailed the contribution of defender David Wetherall as he called time on his Bradford career following the 2-1 loss to Wycombe.Play-off contenders Wycombe went ahead as Delroy Facey and Leon Knight struck home, before Luke Medley's penalty gave the Bantams a consolation.

"We would have loved it to be a win for David Wetherall's last game, but it was not to be," said McCall. "He has been a terrific servant and an ambassador for the club.

"I felt we could have sneaked something but we didn't do it and I am disappointed we haven't made the play-offs this season, but we have still had superb backing from the fans.

"From the dark hole we came out of in October, 10th position is probably where we deserved to be.

"I hope we can get out of this league next season as we could take over a thousand fans with us to some of the matches."
