Moore rues Rovers poor away form

Sun 04 May, 06:45 PM

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore was left to reflect on his side's poor away form as they ended the season with a 2-1 defeat at Northampton. To compound Moore's misery, defender Ian Goodison received his marching orders in the 80th minute for a second caution following a flare up with Ryan Gilligan.

"That's probably why we're not in the play-offs, our away form just hasn't been good enough," he said.

"We gave away an early goal and after getting back in it conceded from a set-piece again. We've had too many games this season when we've finished with 10 men, but it was down to over zealous refereeing.

"We didn't test their keeper enough because the service wasn't good enough from either flank. The players have got to learn that if you can't win a game you must make sure you don't lose it.

"We need to work harder away from Prenton Park and if we do we will be okay. It's disappointing not to finish in the top 10, but really I want to finish in the top six."
