Richardson bemoans missed chances

Sun 04 May, 01:00 PM

Lee Richardson felt his Chesterfield side should have won in their 1-1 draw with Notts County after a second-half equaliser from Jack Lester.Prolific Lester pounced to cancel out Spencer Weir-Daley's strike but Richardson felt a draw was the least his side deserved.

He said: "I thought we should have won the game in the first half an hour.

"We played some excellent football and created plenty of chances but we didn't take them and then we showed our soft underbelly again by giving away a sloppy goal.

"This game was a fantastic example of how our season has gone. I don't think that any County fan could argue that we were completely dominant in the first half and how we didn't score before they did I just don't know.

"Jack Lester is a player of real quality and if he gets a chance it tends to end up in the back of the net. I think he deserved a goal and if he hadn't been out injured for a few weeks he would have probably have broken the 30-goal barrier."
