Simpson eyeing additions to squad

Sun 04 May, 05:15 PM

Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson was glad to finish the season off with a share of the spoils after a 1-1 draw with high-fyling Rochdale. The former Preston manager revelaled that he planned to make changes in the summer after seeing Asa Hall give the Shrews the lead before Chris Dagnall pounced to even things up.

Simpson was disappointed his side could not hold out for the win. He said: "I was pleased with our first-half performance when we applied ourselves well. I said at half-time we had to do much the same after the break, but we've allowed their player to waltz straight through us.

"There are things we need to tighten up and being mentally strong is important. It's a relief to get the season over because it gives us the chance to have a think about what we want to do and where we want to go.

"The one thing I needed to do when I came into the club was make sure we didn't go down.

"We've achieved that, but my job really starts next season because I want to get stuck in and bring in new players to make us a better footballing team."
