Stoke in 'big time' as Foxes flounder

Sun 04 May, 04:45 PM

Stoke joined West Brom in the Premier League as Leicester were relegated, while Crystal Palace and Watford secured their play-off places. The Baggies were 2-0 winners at Queens Park Rangers to clinch the Championship title and Stoke also secured promotion after a 0-0 draw at home to Leicester.

A point was all Tony Pulis' side required to guarantee promotion, but Hull City's defeat at Ipswich Town ensured the Potters could breathe easily.

However, the stalemate at the Britannia Stadium was enough to consign Leicester to League One after Southampton won 3-2 at home to Sheffield United.

Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool and Coventry City all survived on the final day with contrasting results as Crystal Palace and Watford took spots in the top six.

Palace thumped Burnley 5-0 and will now meet Bristol City, while Watford's draw at Blackpool was enough to set up a clash with Hull after Wolves could only win 1-0 at home to Plymouth Argyle.
