Wilson hails gritty Pool display

Sun 04 May, 05:45 PM

Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson praised his players for the way they fought back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Walsall. The Saddlers raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes thanks to goals from Michael Dobson and Tommy Mooney before Michael Mackay and James Brown struck for Pool.

He said: "We came back strongly, penned Walsall back and took a couple of chances from the handful we had, but we could quite easily have won the game, and I don't think they would have any complaints if we had.

"It was poor defending by us for the Walsall goals but we gave ourselves a lift by getting one back quickly and I'm disappointed we didn't go on to win the game although more than happy with the comeback."
