RFL - 'Wales Exercise Is Magic'

Sun 04 May, 09:09 PM

The Rugby Football League hailed a successful second Millennium Magic weekend after an aggregate attendance of 63,144 watched the full round of engage Super League matches played in Cardiff.

Yesterday's crowd of 30,628 was followed by 32,516 for today's three matches, providing an overall increase of 4,313 on 2007.

"This has been another really fantastic weekend with fans of all the clubs freely mixing and enjoying themselves both inside and outside the stadium," said RFL chief executive Nigel Wood.

"The Magic Weekend is only in its second year but has already established itself as a real fans' favourite and a highlight on the rugby league calendar.

"We're also delighted that we broke the 60,000 attendance barrier."
