Bordeaux revived their Ligue 1 title hopes when a Pierre Ducasse goal in stoppage time earned them a 2-1 win at Marseille.

Ducasse's stunning 25-metre strike one minute into injury time gave Bordeaux a deserved win at the Stade Velodrome after Brazilian Wendel had cancelled out Mamadou Niang's opener for Marseille.

Second-placed Bordeaux, on 71 points with two games left, are two points behind leaders and six-times champions Lyon, who drew 0-0 at Nice on Saturday.

Marseille are fourth, two points behind Nancy, who hold the qualifying spot for the Champions League third preliminary round following their 3-0 thrashing of strugglers Racing Strasbourg on Saturday.

"We were a bit frustrated at halftime because we felt there was room to beat Marseille tonight," Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc said.

"All teams are nervous because there is so much at stake for everyone. The team that manages to hold nerves has the edge over its opponents.

"At halftime, I told the players to go for it because we knew we could beat Marseille."

Marseille went ahead just before halftime when Niang poked the ball into the empty net after Rame misjudged a Samir Nasri defence-splitting pass. Rame had wandered out of his area to clear the ball with a header just to see it bounce over him.

Bordeaux came out in the second half with all guns blazing with Argentine striker Fernando Cavenaghi a permanent threat to the Marseille defence.

However, Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda pulled out a couple of brilliant saves to keep the visitors at bay. But he was helpless when Wendel levelled the tie with a 25-metre free kick.

Just as Marseille looked to settle for a draw, Morocco forward Marouane Chamakh set up Ducasse for the winner.

Earlier, St Etienne were held to a goalless draw by Lille as both sides dropped precious points in their hunt for the UEFA Cup qualifying spot.

St Etienne stay fifth, four points adrift of fourth-placed Marseille with Lille a further point behind.
