Edu keeping it simple

Mon, 04 May 10:49:04 2009

Maurice Edu insists Rangers are taking nothing for granted just yet after recording six consecutive wins for the first time this season.

Goals from Andrius Velicka and Kris Boyd sealed a crucial 2-0 victory over Hearts in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Edu said: "We are all happy with the way things have been going recently but we can't look too far ahead."

He continued: "We have to keep things simple and take it game by game. The next game is Celtic and we will do what we can to prepare properly and win the game.

"The stretch of wins is pleasing but we aren't going to be pleased until the end of the season comes when we lift the title and we can look back and say we did well.

"The wins have come at a crucial time but the job's not done yet."

Edu - who joined from MLS last summer - is set to make his Old Firm debut but is unfazed by the prospect.

He said: "I would expect an intense atmosphere. The rivalry runs deep and we know there will be a lot of tackles and challenges.

"But there will also be a lot of chances and goalscoring opportunities and hopefully we take advantage of ours and we are the team who is happy in the end.

"Getting the three points will take us coming out and performing. We know what we are capable of and we know what sort of game it's going to be."

  13. I think if this boy had been given a jersey at the start of the season ,rangers would be in a healtheir league position.Thompson and edu will form an excellent pairing and the sooner thompson's fit the better.must have been hard for edu knowing he had the tools for the job only to see barryboozebag being given a start ahead of him.edu's looked impressive and seems to be very consistent for one so young.
