Incoming Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle has moved to quash rumours that the club are lining up a move for Birmingham's Kevin Phillips.
Town boss Lee Clark had hinted that he would be keen on bringing the former England international striker to the Galpharm Stadium, but Hoyle, who succeeds Ken Davy as chairman later this month, insists a deal is unlikely.
"We're aware of the rumours concerning Kevin Phillips, but there's nothing in them and there has been no contact," Hoyle told the Huddersfield Examiner.
"Of course if any players become available they are considered, but any signings have to be within a set-down wage structure and we have to be realistic.
"That's not to say we aren't ambitious, because we are determined to get into the Championship.
Phillips, 35, joined Birmingham last summer and scored 14 goals as Alex McLeish`s men earned an instant return to the Premier League.

Super Kev has had one knock back when the dumb baggies didn't offer him another year with a move to the coaching staff. The only way i see him moving is if that gready cow wants to cash in like she always does!
