Moyes wants Moores

Mon, 04 May 10:45:18 2009

Everton boss David Moyes is demanding even bigger things from his players as they prepare for a thrilling finale to the season.

The Toffees eased their way into fifth place in the Barclays Premier League with a comfortable win at Sunderland, and have already qualified for the Europa League by virtue of their presence in the FA Cup final.

However, Moyes insists they need to raise their game even further if they are to fulfil their dreams over the remaining weeks of the campaign.

He said: "We have got to go up again. We have got to be slicker, we need to be crisper than we were, and we need to be sharper.

"But it's a time of the season when there is a lot of tiredness. We have all been at it probably since the start of July now, and we are into May and we are all flagging.

"It's tough for the players at this time, but the good teams - that's why I admire all the managers and the teams who keep doing it because they have got to be fresh and good for this time of the year. I am going to try to get out boys into tip-top condition for the weeks to come."

  1. alancongdon875 i agree, anybody can go out and buy big name players for massive money but moyes has turned the club around on empty pockets. there is no praise good enough for what he has done with our grand old club.

  2. I hope that Everton can achieve 5th place in the Premiership and win the FA Cup. It would be a great double for our great team for we have suffered conciderably from injuries this season and amazingly have won some great contests, especially United and Liverpool and were unlucky to lose against United, Chelsea , Arsenal and Villa. It is a pity that as we approach the Final on 30th May our squad has been decimated and there is no doubt that some of our players are feeling the strain of a very long season and our inability to swap players within our very small first team squad. We will need luck against Chelsea for they do have the much larger squad of extremely good players but I have a gut feeling that we will come away from Wembley holding the cup. We will need to play with great resilience in defence and midfield for we shall certainly be under great pressure and I believe we will miss Jo on the day. However, I think both Fellaini and Saha will score and for some reallt odd reason Chelsea will fail to score on the day.
