Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is planning to change the club's transfer policy this summer and target players in their "prime" rather than youngsters with potential.
Along with signing players ready for the first team, Spurs have a recent history of also buying players with potential sell-on value.
"You have to keep moving forward," Redknapp said. "I just want players who can come in and make us a better team."
He added: "The players that I have in mind are playing very well and are in their prime."
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could still look for investment in youth, although recent young signings have not lived up to their potential.
Kevin-Prince Boateng and Giovani dos Santos are among the recent youngsters the club have invested in, with both being loaned out this season after failing to establish themselves in the first team.
Boateng is looking for his move to Borussia Dortmund to become permanent, while Ipswich boss Roy Keane expects Spurs to sell Giovani and insists there are "plenty of clubs queueing up".
Redknapp is set to meet Levy this week to discuss their plans over the summer.
"I'll sit down with the chairman this week and have a chat and see where we go," he said.
"I've got one or two people I'd like to bring in, whether we can get them I don't know. If we could get the couple of players I'd like I think we'd be a good side next year."

Dos Santos did'nt figure much for Barca, he played a few games, scored a couple ans that was that.
I would like to see Keano dropped to the bench for a week too. You can't have players thinking they can put in performances as he has for the last couple of games, and expect to play in the team every week.
How can we sell Dos Santos?? Last year he was playing for Barcelona in there first team so he can't be as bad as Harry thinks he is, What the hell is going on?!! Can anyone tell me that? COYS!
Harry has the right attitude, please bring in impact players. The current crop although are good but we really need players that can control the game.
comment number 5, i have two things to say to u 2-0 at upton park and 1-0 at w h lane, when actually was the last time the mighty hammers beat us????? let me think, wasnt you 2-0 up on us a couple of years ago, and what did that result finish???? 4-3 i beleive and not to u. Also we were on two points for 9wks this season and now are only 1 point behind ur mighty hammers, very strange!!
The Gunnares LADIES won the cup. Not the 1st. team. COYS.
whatever you muppets do, you will still be in our shadow... no doubt this (yet again) will be the year you break into the top four (l.o.l)... isnt it about time you lot accepted your not a big club and never really have been?... lets face it, 2 league titles and a couple of cups here and there... most deluded fans south of newcastle!
Why doesnt olde saggy chops sell Bent for 5 or 6 mil and then buy him back a year later for 15 or 16 ?!, thats the Spurs way Isn't it. Don't worry Spuds, I'm sure you will get even MORE players and desperately try and finish above the mighty 'Ammers, You cant make talent and your club is so deluded its unbelievable.
This is just another term for has beens, typical Redknapp, buys this type of player and maybe has a good team for 1 or 2 years and then he clears of somewhere else and leaves a load of deadbeats behind, how he gets a reputation as a good manager is beyond me.
After meeting with David Levy, 'Arry might be thinking of moving on, since he'll not be able to buy at will.
"Along with signing players ready for the first team, Spurs have a recent history of also buying players with potential sell-on value."
this sentence doesnt make sense
Harry, we still need youngsters to back up the "ready made" players. We cannot have all readymades as we would then have dissent within the team. This because they would not want to sit games out . We have had that in the not too distant past. COTS.
