Hleb Nearing Barca Move - Agent

Alexander Hleb's representative claims a deal to take the Arsenal player to Barcelona "is close".

Vincenzo Morabito told Spanish newspaper Marca that his client had been hoping for a move to Inter Milan, a transfer that he claims has been scuppered by the appointment of Jose Mourinho as coach of the Italian champions.

However, Morabito claims that instead Hleb will now turn his attention to Barca.

"(A deal) is close. He has been a Barcelona target for some months," he was quoted as saying in Marca.

"I'm sorry that we won't be able to take him to Italy, he liked Inter a lot but obviously Mourinho has made some different choices and has gone for some other names."

Arsenal threatened to report Inter to FIFA in March after claiming an illegal approach was made for the Belarus international, who was also recently linked with a move to Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Last week reports in the Spanish media claimed that Barcelona technical director Txiki Begiristain had travelled to Germany to hold talks with Hleb while he was on international duty.

  1. last season my friends and i called hleb, pleb every time he touched a ball he lost it even he has said last season he looked up and the ball had gone . yes this season he has been amazing but where do you play him is it behind the striker well that seems to work but what if the striker is having a bad game he is another player that is good very very good but not great , every player that leaves arsenal doesnt repeat what they did there , so if he wants out cash in and replace after all the reserves have some great young english talent and one player who plays just like hleb at the age of 16 , after all home grow dont mind the noise of london

  2. Arsene Wenger should look beyond the loss of Flamini and possibly Hleb and forge ahead. He should look for strong substitutes to stand in for injured and suspended players. It is true our season started falling apart after Eduardo's injury in February, there were no serious players to stand in for Van Persie, Sagna and Rosicky. Let's start building now. Bellushi

  3. So much has been said about Hleb move- away from Arsenal. His talks can only form opinion of distractions.I believe that no Arsenal play is indispensable. If proffessor Wenger had in the past, comfortablly disposed and replaced the likes of Nicolas Anelka, Patrick Veira, Thiery Henry and many others without breaking bank, he will also do it again and again without stress. Hleb can go like Flamini, but, should have at the back of his mind, progress made by Anelka, Veira, Henry and co. that left mid-way. Let us concerntrate now and correct the mistakes of the just concluded season. Gunners 4 live!

  4. Helb is a not the man for any club if all he thinks of is money , you want someone to play for a club because he loves that club , when you sign a contact it should run for as long as you signed for , not be sorted again in a year.

  8. really,hleb has made a good decision for himself.he can't just seat and watch fabregas claiming all the big names when he too is amongst the best in arsenal.arsenal will sweat,within 6 months a small team just loses diara,flamini and hleb,all excellent young stars! something must be wrong somewhere,
