QPR have announced the appointment of Jim Magilton as their latest manager.
The move represents Rangers' seventh managerial change since Flavio Briatore took control at Loftus Road.
Magilton, 40, who was sacked by Ipswich in April after failing to guide them into the Championship play-offs and will now be charged with leading Rangers back into the top flight.
Briatore told the club's official website: "We had an incredibly high number of applicants, but Jim was the stand-out candidate for the role.
"We (the board) sat down with him on four separate occasions over the last month to discuss our goals and ambitions and he has really impressed myself, Mr Ecclestone, Mr Mittal and Mr Bhatia with his knowledge, understanding and passion for football."
"He did a very good job at Ipswich Town, playing some fine, attacking football, and he has great ambition to achieve in this next chapter of his managerial career. We are all really looking forward to working with him."
Magilton added: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of managing this great football club.
"The board are highly ambitious, but they are very realistic at the same time. I have huge ambitions to achieve as a manager though, and our aim is to keep progressing, year after year.
"There is a very strong group of players at the club and with one or two additions over the summer, we can expect to be in a position to drastically improve upon the eleventh place finish secured last season."

The Board may be wonderfull at their "Day Jobs"but keep their money to themself when it
comes to QPR.Its an insult to supporters to appoint a Manager with a blnak CV as far as
winning things goes, and if they had Sven applying that proves my point. He was great for England and Man City, and Im sure we face another season of loan deals and anyone
they can get on the cheap.Forget promotion,at this rate we'll be lucky to stay in the
Championship. When will the Board wake up and realise we want Winners, both in the Management and Playing staff.Another Winter of Discontent.

I would have liked a manager who had a bit more experience and a proven record of getting promotion, but then a manager who have had success would want total control of playing matters which is how it should be. Please Mr Briatore let magilton be a manager and do not interfere, The most succesful managers of recent times, fergie and wenger has total control of their teams. Thank you for saving this great club but please take a back seat and do a better job for doing it.
well as a Ipswich fan what a joke QPR are the laughing stock of the Championship
Jim Magilton what a ****er mid table you will be luckey
need to stick with one manager not keep sacking them,we would have made the playoffs if had the one manager who was left to choose own team and players.give the new guy a chance, come on u rrrrrrrrrrrrs
THEY FANK THAR GOANAY BE THA NAXT CHALSEY THEY CAN DREEM AN.
HAVAN SED THOT QPR AS SHIITE.
FLY GAT. HES WAY BATTAR AFF AT OPR THON APSWACH. QPR HAY WAY MACH MAR PETONTIAL.
What a joke of an appointment, the guy did sod all at Ipswich. Where is the ambition of the club I love. Another couple of seasons living with mid table mediocrity
Another 'bookend' gets a manager's job at a club run by someone who doesn't know one end of a football pitch from the other.
I feel sorry for fans at QPR, they deserve better. You should never employ failure.
Give him time and he'll do well......but lets face it: that impatient school child in control won't do that. If they haven't won 200 games more than they've played a month before the start of the season he'll be sacked......although, if it were not for Briatore and the others the club would have ceased to exist, so maybe us fans can give them credit and let them turn QPR into the newcastle of the south...
GOOD LUCK QPR YOU WILL NEED IT HE WASTED MILLIONS AT IPSWICH ON @#$% AND IPSWICH FANS WHERE RIGHT WHEN THEY SANG YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING! BECAUSE IT WAS AND STILL IS TRUE! DAVE QUINN CLACTON ESSEX ITFC
well there we go .... that appointment just shows what ambition this club has.... get rid of flavio he is making this great club a bloody laughing stock!!
Magilton's a better manager than the ignimonious end at Ipswich would suggest. He stabilised the club from going into freefall and was really unlucky not to make the play-offs (at least) in 07/08. I fully expect him to do the business at QPR and probably show up my own club for their recklessness in appointing Keane. Best of luck Jim.
Whilst we QPR fans should be grateful to the current board at our club for giving us a
sound financial backing, I cant help but wonder if they know what they are doing. Its obvious what this club needs is an experienced manager coupled with proven goal scorer.
Surely they would find the promosed land of the premiership then.
